New signs in Surrey offer chance to win Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair tickets

Several four-sided signs have popped up around Surrey.
The 6-foot-plus high rectangular boxes look like a cross between sandwich boards and an old British phone booth.
The Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association (CREA) put the structures up in four locations across town April 10 to advertise the upcoming 78th Cloverdale Rodeo and 135th Country Fair.
CREA is offering a chance to win tickets for anyone who takes a picture of one of the structures, shares it on social media, and tags Cloverdale Rodeo.
The pillar-signs are up in Hawthorne Square, at the Cloverdale Rec. Centre, at the Guilford Rec. Centre, and outside City Hall.
“We’re trying to get the word out,” said Rick Hugh, 1st vice-president of CREA. “Things are coming together and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the Fairgrounds next month.”
He said rodeo- and fair-goers will delight in a new drone show that’s making its debut on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds this year.
“It will feature different aspects of the rodeo and country fair,” Hugh explained. “It’s about 12 minutes long and it will be very cool.”
He said the drone show was originally scheduled to play only on Friday night, but they are trying to add another show because of how impressed they were with the show after seeing a sneak preview. He said the logistics are still being worked out but there’s a good chance that it will play twice over Rodeo Weekend.
“It’s the first drone show in Surrey,” Hugh added. “So, the city is paying attention.”
The drone show is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. on Friday night after k-os finishes his set on the CR Corral main stage.
Hugh said if the drone show does play twice, the second show will be on Sunday. The drones would take to the sky after The Road Hammers finish their set late in the evening.
“It would be on the heels of their performance as they finish up,” he noted.
