A young person has died following a crash on Highway 401 in Toronto on Thursday night.
Emergency crews responded to reports of the collision involving a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian in the westbound collector lanes of the highway at McCowan Road in Scarborough at approximately 10:25 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police said.
A young person from Toronto was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No further information on the age or gender of the person was released.
No foul play is suspected, the OPP added.
All westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 between Markham Road and McCowan Road were closed for the on-scene investigation, and have since reopened.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
