Convicted killer Teixeira a no-show in Surrey provincial court

A man convicted of a 2017 contract killing in South Surrey was a no-show in Surrey provincial court Friday in an unrelated case.
Brandon Nathan Teixeira, who was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder and 14 years for attempted murder (to be served concurrently) in New Westminster Supreme Court on April 1, was due to appear via video in Surrey Friday (April 17) for an aggravated assault charge that happened while he was in custody for the 2017 shooting, stabbing death of Nicholas Khabra.
Judge David Silerverman noted Teixeira’s non-appearance in courtroom 108 and said he will need to appear in person for the aggravated assault trial, set for Jan. 25-27, 2027 in Surrey Provincial Court.
The non-appearance could result in an additional charge or penalties if the non-appearance was without lawful excuse.
