Toronto police are searching for two suspects who allegedly stole a “high-value trading card” during an online sale meetup in North York on Thursday night.
Police said they were initially called to Bathurst Street and Cedarcroft Boulevard, south of Steeles Avenue West, at 7 p.m. for a robbery.
Investigators learned that the victim was selling the card online and arranged to meet with two potential buyers.
At the agreed-upon location for the sale, the victim was approached from behind by two suspects.
They allegedly sprayed the victim with an obnoxious substance before stealing the card. Police said the suspect fled in a black SUV.
Police could not confirm what kind of card was stolen.
In a news release on Friday night, police released images of the suspect vehicle and the descriptions of the two male suspects, who are believed to be 17 to 20 years old and about five-foot-eight.
One was wearing a black hooded sweater, while the other was wearing a grey hooded sweater. Police said they were both wearing black medical masks.
Anyone with information about their identities is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
