Emergency crews were called to a house fire on Fifth Line, near Dundas Street West, shortly after 6 p.m., Peel Regional Police said in a social media post.
Before firefighters arrived, neighbours attempted multiple rescues but were unable to enter the home due to intense heat and smoke. One man in his 50s, who tried to help, was overcome by the conditions near the front entrance.
Fire crews were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions throughout the townhouse upon arrival, with flames primarily concentrated in the basement and main floor.
Firefighters say one occupant was found near the doorway, while two others were located inside the home on the main floor. Crews carried out a rapid interior search and were able to remove the two unresponsive occupants.
Resuscitation efforts were performed at the scene, and both patients were revived before being transferred to paramedics and transported to Credit Valley Hospital.
In an update from Mississauga Fire, all three patients — a woman in her 80s and two men in their 40s and 50s — were later reported to be in stable condition.
Firefighters described the situation as dynamic, noting significant community efforts to assist prior to their arrival, though access to the home was limited.
The cause of the fire and the amount in damage remains under investigation.
