INDIANAPOLIS – To finish the non-conference schedule of the regular season, the No. 14 UIndy men’s tennis team swept Purdue Northwest 4-0. The victory improves their regional record to 10-0, moving to 13-4 overall.
After domination on the doubles court, singles wins from Asier Ayllon Prado, Tadeo Gaggiofatto, and Jovan Matovic was all it took to scratch across the finish line.
INS AND OUTS
UIndy got started with a bang in doubles by Arda Aroyo and Nicolas Balzola, who posted a comfortable 6-1 win on court #3 over Daniel Sroka and Raphael Valente in their debut as a team.
Backing them up was Asier Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache, as they took down Samuel Dickson and Dani Chicano Melero 6-3 at #1 doubles. Doubles was captured after Tadeo Gaggiofatto and Zaid Shelbaya defeated Joao Martins and Pedro Diaz 6-4.
In singles, Jovan Matovic came out of the gate strong, breezing past Martins 6-1, 6-4 on court #3. No. 16 Ayllon Prado followed suit, replicating that 6-1, 6-4 score on Dickson at #1 singles. No. 42 Gaggiofatto call game at #2 singles, overpowering Chicano Melero 6-2, 7-5 to secure the sweep.
