Surrey council to vote on childcares proposed for single-family homes

Surrey council is set to vote on four childcare applications at its next regular council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, April 27 at City Hall.
Two will be subject to a public hearing while the other two are not, because the latter are consistent with the Official Community Plan and include a residential component.
For those going to a public hearing, the first involves an existing single-family house at 8852 Lauder Drive with the applicant proposing to set up a standalone child care centre, to a maximum of 16 children, in the dwelling.
The second involves a proposal to develop at three-storey commercial building at 6565 – 152 Street with offices, a child care centre and a caretaker suite.
The other two applications will directly be subject to a third-reading vote. The first of these applications not involving a public hearing is at 6206 Sundance Drive, where the applicant proposes to have a childcare operation with up to 25 children in a single family dwelling there.
The second is at 12209 – 70A Avenue, with an applicant proposing to set up a childcare centre for up to 25 children within an existing single family dwelling there.
