A 61-year-old Toronto man has been charged in connection with a fatal Mississauga hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.

Peel Regional Police responded to a collision in the early morning of Wednesday, April 15, at Hurontario St. and Derry Rd.

Cops said an SUV struck a pedestrian at the intersection, and the driver fled the scene. The driver was then struck and dragged by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle stayed at the scene. The pedestrian, 47, died of his injuries.
Sergio Dacosta was charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision resulting in death. Investigators have seized the vehicle allegedly involved in the crash.
Suspect in armed robberies caught
Hamilton Police have charged a 39-year-old man in connection with two knifepoint robberies in that city’s east end.
Police alleged that Trevor Dorion is responsible for two armed robberies at a convenience store on April 10 and in December of 2025. Evidence was found at a residence in the east end in relation to the crimes.
Dorion faces charges of armed robbery, robbery with intent to steal and disguise with intent. Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Hamilton Police BEAR Unit.

Man arrested at Yonge-Dundas demonstration
A Toronto man was charged at a demonstration last Saturday in the Yonge St. and Dundas St. area.
Police allege a man approached from behind someone who was recording the demonstration, assaulted her and stole her cellphone. The man tried to run but he was caught by police.
Caleb Gladwin, 26, faces charges of robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

SIU investigating motorcycle crash
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a motorcycle crash while trying to flee York Regional Police on Sunday night.
It’s reported that an officer responded to an emergency call on Purcell Crescent in Vaughan, found a man on a motorcycle and put his cruiser lights on. The rider fled and shortly crashed the bike thereafter. The man was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The SIU says anyone with information should contact 1-800-787-8529.
