“Christina is a fighter, but her battle with MS has been treacherous. She has better days and really bad days; she doesn’t have great days. She’s always dealing with something. It sucks,” a source tells the Daily Mail. “With every setback, if we are being realistic, everyone has it in the back of their minds that they might not have a tomorrow with her.”

But the Mail’s insider said that Applegate is buoyed by the support she has received from friends.
“When she does look at things positively it makes her feel better in the moment because she has so many friends that are there for her, even to listen to her, cry with her and anything in between,” they told the outlet.
The source also admitted that while Applegate is “in rough shape,” her friends “aren’t thinking that this is the end.”
“Nobody is planning to be at a funeral. Granted, her disease will take her sooner than anyone would like it to be, but everyone has trust in her medical team and her will to live,” they said.

TMZ reported last week that Applegate, 54, was admitted to the hospital in March.
Reached for comment, Applegate’s rep told both USA Today and Page Six said they had “no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are.”
“She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast,” they said.
On Monday, Applegate responded to rumours surrounding her health in her own Instagram post, saying she was feeling “better every day.”
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes. Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day,” she wrote. “I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, MS affects the central nervous system and can cause muscle weakness, vision changes, numbness and memory issues.
‘I don’t enjoy living‘
Applegate revealed she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021.

“It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition,” Applegate wrote on social media at the time. “It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going.”
Since going public, the Married … With Children alum has been open about her struggles living with MS.
In a 2024 episode of her MeSsy podcast, Applegate told co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also suffers from MS, that she doesn’t “enjoy living.”
“I don’t enjoy it. I don’t enjoy things anymore,” she said.
“I’m trapped in this darkness right now that I haven’t felt in probably 20-something years,” she added. “A real, f***-it-all depression — like, a real depression, where it’s kind of scaring me too a little bit because it feels really fatalistic.”

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert earlier that same year, Applegate called her MS diagnosis “the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in my entire life.”
Last summer, Applegate said she had been admitted to hospital in “so much pain.”

“I’m staying here because I want answers. I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven’t even thought of, and I want them done,” she shared on her MeSsy podcast.
After “screaming” from pain, doctors ordered an emergency CT scan, which revealed she had a kidney infection.
“I’m holding in a bag o’ tears right now,” she said. “I sometimes fall into the nurse’s arms like a freako, just like crying.”
In March, Applegate said her MS battle has sent her to the hospital repeatedly in recent years.
“Since I was diagnosed, I’ve been in the hospital upwards of 30 times,” the Dead to Me actress said on an episode of MeSsy, per USA Today. “That is unimaginable, OK? They’ve done every test known to man on me, put so much radiation into my body from CT scans to everything else.”
