An Ottawa man has been charged with arson after a business in Mississauga’s northwest end was set ablaze once before two additional attempts were made to destroy the property, police say.

Peel Regional Police said they’re also on the hunt for a second suspect in connection with the arson investigation that’s looking into the incidents at the Winston Churchill Boulevard/Argentia Road area business in Meadowvale.

On the morning of Sunday, March 16 just before 5:30 a.m., police responded to reports of a fire at an unoccupied business in Meadowvale. There were no reported injuries and the culprits fled the area before police arrived.

“Since the initial incident, the same location has been targeted by two additional arson attempts,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.

Kevin Paredes, 19, of Ottawa, is charged with arson and other alleged offences.

Police made an arrest in the case last Friday.

Investigators are also seeking to identify an additional suspect believed to be involved in the incidents, police said.

The suspect, pictured below, is described as a male with a fair complexion, in his late teens to early 20s, with a slim build, clean-shaven and with dark eyes. He was last seen wearing a black toque, black puffer jacket, black jeans and black Nike Air Force shoes.
