Two more of Stephen Colbert’s late night compatriots are offering a messages of support amidst CBS’ shock cancellation of The Late Show.

Jimmy Fallon took to Instagram Friday morning to share his candid thoughts on the end of his fellow 11:35 host’s show.

“I’m just as shocked as everyone,” Fallon wrote in a text-only Instagram story. “Stephen is one of the sharpest, funniest hosts to ever do it. I really thought I’d ride this out with him for years to come.”

Fallon, who started on The Tonight Show a year and a half before Colbert took over the reins of The Late Show, has gone up against Colbert in the time slot for most of his run.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has regularly bested The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in the ratings in recent years.

“I’m sad that my family and friends will need a new show to watch every night at 11:30,” Fallon added.

“But honestly, he’s really been a gentleman and a true friend over the years — going back to The Colbert Report, and I’m sure whatever he does next will be just as brilliant.”

Seth Meyers, a fellow late-night host and Strike Force Five member, also weighed in on Instagram. “For as a great a comedian and host he is, [Colbert] is an even better person,” Meyers wrote in an Instagram story. “I’m going to miss having him on TV every night but I’m excited he can no longer use the excuse that he’s ‘too busy to hang out’ with me.”

As we’ve reported, Jimmy Kimmel offered his own words of support for Colbert last night, taking aim at CBS in the process.

“Love you Stephen. F*ck you and all your Sheldons CBS,” he wrote.

While Kimmel has toyed with retirement following the 2026 end of his contract, Fallon and Meyers’ NBC contracts run through 2028.
