False info on immigration application leads to $20K fine for Brampton company

The province has fined a Brampton immigration services company $20,000 after discovering false information on an application.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development says the offence happened in 2023 when Brampton-based company Grayfeather Immigration Inc. was representing an applicant to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

The application included employment information that the OINP was unable to verify, resulting in the refusal of the application and a follow-up investigation.

The province says the application contained “falsely represented employment information,” and failed to disclose the use of an authorized representative, as required by the program.

Grayfeather pleaded guilty to violating the Ontario Immigration Act in February and has been fined $20,000, the ministry says.

The court also imposed a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge as required by the Provincial Offences Act, credited to a special provincial government fund to assist victims of crime.
