Shuswap women and girls are invited to kick it at local soccer programs running over the next couple of months.
Tricia Martin, a retired teacher and coach with School District 83, is back on the field with a few opportunities at Little Mountain Park in Salmon Arm.
Coming up first is Drop-In soccer for women 45 and over, an eight-week program starting on Wednesday, May 5 at Little Mountain field #3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
“Last year was our first year doing this and it was well received as a fun, encouraging place for women to come and work on their soccer skills and fitness,” Martin said.
Kids are up next for the Girls Only Soccer School from July 6 to 10 on Little Mountain fields, with this marking the 28th year the camp has been running.
The women’s Drop-In is $20 for the eight weeks, while Girls Only is $150 for the camp, with registration for both available at triciamart@telus.net.
These opportunities come on the heels of the She’s Got Game Skills and Drills program for women over 40, with two sessions remaining at Little Mountain #3 on April 22 and 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. With 19 women having signed up, the program is for those who “have been away from the sport for a while or who are new to the game.”
