A man and woman from Winnipeg have been charged following a robbery with a firearm in the RM of Fisher.

At 7:35 p.m. on April 16, Fisher Branch RCMP responded to a robbery with a firearm on Highway 17 North, just south of Hodgson in the RM of Fisher. 

It was reported that a male was assaulted by three individuals who then stole his truck. The suspects also threatened to kill the victim with a sawed-off shotgun. 

Police patrolled the area, attempting to locate the suspects without success. 

Officers spoke to the victim at his residence and found him in medical distress. He was quickly taken to a local hospital by police, before being transferred to a Winnipeg hospital by ambulance shortly after.

Through the investigation, officers learned an incident occured earlier in the day between the suspects and another female. The victim confronted the suspects, who then assaulted him with a baseball bat and taser while kicking him and pointing a sawed-off shotgun, threatening to kill him. All three suspects took off in his truck, and the victim walked home.

The 59-year-old male victim from the community, suffered life-threatening injuries but is now recovering in the hospital.

An arrest warrant was applied for two of the three suspects – a 36-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, both from Winnipeg. 

At 4:20 p.m. on April 21, the pair was located at a residence in Winnipeg by members of the Manitoba Integrated Violent Officer Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU). They were arrested without incident.

Both suspects have been charged with the following:


Aggravated assault
Assault with a weapon
Use firearm in commission of an offence
Pointing a firearm
Robbery with firearm
Uttering threats
Possess weapon contrary to order
Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose
Counselling to commit an offence not committed 
Possess firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

The third suspect has not been identified but is described as a female with rotten front teeth.
