For months, the main name Patrik Allvin and the Canucks have been linked to is Minnesota star, Marco Rossi, but after the rumours were shot down, a new development expects Vancouver to actually get a deal done.Since Pius Suter and J.T. Miller are no longer with the organization, the Canucks’ main priority heading into the offseason was to find a upgrade down the middle on the second line.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Vancouver Canucks offered their 2025 first round pick (15th overall), along with another asset to the Wild for Marco Rossi, but it wasn’t enough.
“Frank Seravalli: The rumour the Canucks offered the 15th pick+ for Marco Rossi is true; it’s “going to take more” – SN 650″ NHL Rumour Report said on X.
Vancouver Canucks expected to land Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi
Even though they received bad news from the Wild in their attempt to acquire Rossi back in July, evidence has been reported of the Canucks once again showing interest, and this time, they are predicted to get the job done.
Rumors have suggested that the Wild and Rossi have not had any solid discourse about a contract in weeks, leading to even further speculation on a potential trade.
The young star is holding firm on what he feels he deserves to be paid as an RFA due to his high production in 2024-25 and even higher ceiling.
GM Bill Guerin is likely holding back in order to make sure he has sufficient cap space to re-sign superstar Kirill Kaprizov, who is clearly the teams number one priority.
“A potential Rossi demanding out of Minnesota and the Wild losing what could be a breakout star. It remains to be seen if the Wild will trade Rossi, but if they do, the Canucks make a lot of sense as a landing spot.”
With the Canucks already knowing what the Wild want in return for Rossi, it is now up to Allvin to cough up the proper trade offer to get the deal done.
But, if any of the moves this offseason are indicative of what’s to come, it is not looking too promising.
