Rochester, N.Y. — A highly anticipated “Boxing Extravaganza” is set to take over Blue Cross Arena.

Fighters weighed in Friday night ahead of Saturday night’s big showcase, marking the return of professional championship boxing to Rochester for the first time in roughly 30 years.

The event reflects a broader mission of promoting respect and positive conflict resolution through initiatives like “Gloves Up, Guns Down.”

“Boxing has more of a purpose than what we do in the ring,” said Bryce Mills, who will look to defend his U.S. WBC Silver lightweight title. “Boxing for some people can be getting them off the streets. And I know I’ve seen a lot in Syracuse, people are quick to pick up a gun when they have a confrontation. They’re quick to shoot another person, when in reality, let’s take it to the gym. Let’s put the gloves on, let’s solve it in a safe way.”

The event is hosted by Savage Life Promotions in partnership with United and Healing through Hope of Monroe County.
