The City of Steinbach has secured funding to add more trees to one of its busiest outdoor recreation spaces.
Mayor Earl Funk says the grant, provided through the Green Municipal Fund and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, will support new tree planting at the Steinbach Soccer Park.
“We have been approved for a grant for the amount of $67,160. That will plant a fair number of trees in the soccer park.”
The Soccer Park spans approximately 40 acres, with about 25 acres already developed into a major outdoor soccer facility. It features five full-size pitches and serves as a hub for local sports and community events.

Beyond sports, the Soccer Park is also home to Steinbach’s annual Canada Day celebration on July 1, drawing large crowds each year.
The large play structure is a busy place, especially during the warmer months, while modern washrooms, change rooms, and a canteen also help make it a popular destination for families and athletes throughout the season.
