Featherweight contenders come to blows at UFC Vegas 116, with former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling seeking a marquee victory over the streaking Youssef Zalal. In the co-main event, women’s bantamweight stalwarts Norma Dumont and Joselyne Edwards are set to duke it out to further their climb up the rankings.  

UFC Vegas 116 Main Event

Following an incredibly stellar run at 135-lb, which saw him capture UFC gold and defend it three consecutive times, Sterling made the decision to move up to featherweight in 2024. Recording a 2-1 record in his new division, “Funk Master” is gearing up to announce himself as a legitimate title challenger this Saturday.  

After a magnificent 3-0 run on the regional circuit, Zalal made his return to the UFC in early 2024, where he has embarked on a fierce warpath through the cream of the crop at featherweight. A winner of five straight inside the Octagon, “The Moroccan Devil” has proven to be a major problem in the competitive 145-lb upper echelon.

Returning to the 135-lb class two years ago, Dumont has quickly cemented her place as a top contender, evident by her trio of wins over Germaine de Randamie, Irene Aldana, and Ketlen Vieira. Back for her seventh back-to-back appearance at the Meta Apex, “The Immortal” is gearing up for a splendid performance this weekend.   

Standing as one of the best finishers in her weight category, Edwards has enjoyed a major amount of success in her last four bouts. Winning all of them by stoppage, including two first round knockouts, “La Pantera” is easily must-watch-tv at women’s bantamweight.
