A Winnipeg man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a woman at a bus stop last fall.

On September 16, 2025, a vehicle travelling east on Abinojii Mikanah mounted the curb and struck a woman in her 40s who was waiting at a bus stop near St. Mary’s Road. The vehicle then collided with a guardrail and flipped over. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries.

Following consultation with the Manitoba Prosecution Service, investigators arrested a 33-year-old man on April 21, 2026. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and driving while disqualified under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was released on an undertaking.
