MOUNT UPDATE
Men’s golf put on a show in the latter end of their regular season and looks to carry this momentum into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships this weekend. The team has two golfers who have placed top five in multiple tournaments – one of whom earned an individual title in the latter end of their fall season. They also have a first-place nod as a team, winning the Carpetbagger Classic.
Towards the end of the season, the players have been excelling with a couple being within the top 20 players in each tournament. Santiago Bonequi and Force Kosalutta have been dominantly consistent throughout the regular season. Bonequi has led in five of the nine tournaments that the team has faced this season, while also being in the top 10 for four out of the nine tournaments. Kosalutta has earned an individual title this season at the Wykagyl Collegiate and since then has been one of the other leaders for the team for two of the nine tournaments.
Tyler Fortney and Bryan Hernandez have also led in tournaments and project to be a factor at MAACs.
HISTORY AT THE MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP
In their third season, Mount St. Mary’s opened their MAAC Championship play with a third-place tally, then later finishing in fifth. Aaron Sorkin finished in second place leading the team, while Martin Hurtado finished in 20th and Devin Smith finished tied for 25th.
