Richmond RCMP are investigating a kidnapping that happened in that city on Friday evening, April 24, and the crime appears to involve a vehicle that had been stolen from Maple Ridge.

Police were called after a man was forced into a pickup at approximately 10:10 p.m., in the parking lot of the Bamboo Grove Restaurant, located at 6920 No. 3 Road in Richmond.

A witness reported seeing a man being forced into a pickup truck by two males shortly after leaving the restaurant. Investigators reviewed available surveillance footage, which has been released to the public

Police have obtained updated images of the suspect vehicle, believed to be a grey 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. The truck is described as having a sunroof, mud flaps, and a triple ball hitch. At the time of the offence, the vehicle is believed to have been displaying B.C. licence plate RF5-41V. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Maple Ridge on Sept. 27, 2025.

The photos released are actual depictions of the stolen Dodge Ram 1500 believed to be involved in the incident.

As part of the investigation, a Volkswagen Jetta also involved in the incident, observed in the surveillance video, has been seized by police.

The Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation. Given the number of onlookers and vehicles present in the parking lot at the time of the incident, investigators are hoping to speak with additional witnesses who were in the area and may have information. Police are also seeking Tesla owners who were parked nearby and may have captured footage through Sentry Mode, as well as anyone with dashcam or security video from the area around the time of the incident.

Anyone with information, or anyone who sees the suspect vehicle, is asked to call 911 immediately. Please quote file number 2026-12635. Members of the public are advised not to approach the vehicle for safety reasons.
