A man in his 70s has been arrested after a fatal shooting in Mississauga early Monday, police say.
Peel police say they were called to a business in the area of Kennedy Road and Matheson Boulevard at about 8:30 a.m. The business is Spy Depot Security, a store that sells surveillance equipment.
When they arrived, they found a 62-year-old man inside. The victim, who was suffering from several gunshot wounds, died at the scene, they said.
The suspect was arrested in the building and investigators have recovered a gun, police said.
Const. Laurie McCann, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police, told reporters that the shooting appears to have been targeted but police have no information about a possible motive.
“I can tell you it is not a random shooting,” she said.
Someone in the building who found the victim called 911, McCann said. There were no signs of a break-in, she added.
McCann said police are looking for any evidence that could help with the investigation.
“No evidence is too small … every little bit will help the investigators in this case.”
Anyone with more information, or who has dashboard camera or surveillance footage, is asked to contact police.
