FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A recent porch pirate case in Fargo is raising questions about how to protect medication deliveries.
The theft happened April 10 in the 200 block of 8th Street South. The stolen package contained medication critical to the victim’s care.
Fargo police say there are several steps residents can take to protect sensitive deliveries.
“Anytime a resident of Fargo receives a sensitive delivery or high value delivery, requiring a signature prior to that package being left is always a good practice to follow,” said Lt. Nick Kjonaas.
Kjonaas said residents can also ask a trusted neighbor to retrieve packages when they arrive.
“One of the first things they can consider is talking to a neighbor. When that package is delivered, ask the neighbor to go over there and get it,” he said. “They can also send alerts to their phones so they’re aware when the package arrives and communicate with somebody.”
Police also recommend installing a doorbell camera or secure lock box.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect can call Fargo police at 701-241-5777.
