Police in Brampton, Ont., are investigating after a tow truck was set on fire early Tuesday in the latest incident in a string of arsons targeting the industry.
Peel Regional Police said they arrived at the scene at Ascot Avenue near Balmoral Drive and Dixie Road at roughly 3 a.m.
Police said the Ontario Fire Marshall had been called to investigate.
Tuesday’s fire is the fourth in the last week targeting tow trucks that police believe have been intentionally caused.
Four tow trucks were set on fire within 30 minutes of each other around 1 a.m. on April 21.
Last week, Peel police said they first responded to Cassinway Road near Airport Road and Countryside Drive, where two tow trucks were engulfed in flames. Around 30 minutes later, police were called to another scene on Legend Lane near Mclaughlin Road and Bovaird Drive. Police responded to the final fire at around 1:37 a.m. on Worthington Avenue north of Bovaird Drive.
Police said there have been no injuries caused by the fires and the investigation is continuing. They believe the fires are targeted but have not found any connections between the attacks, nor have they released any information on potential suspects.
