The lights have gone out in a large portion of Downtown Brampton.
Alectra Utilities reports that about 1,500 customers are without power in the area of Main Street and Queen Street West.
Customers started to report the blackout just after 4 p.m. today (April 28).
Several businesses and residences have been affected.
The outage stretches from Main Street/Hurontario Street on the west to just beyond Kennedy Road to the east, and up to Vodden Road West to the north.
Alectra says emergency crews have been dispatched to address the issue, but at this time, the issue is still under investigation, and the cause of the problem remains undetermined.
The public utility expects the problem to be resolved and power restored by 9 p.m. this evening.
