Earth Day in May is right around the corner.
The Village of Harrison Hot Springs’ Environmental Advisory Committee is hosting Earth Day in May on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 290 Esplanade Ave. The event is designed to provide information and workshops focused on community sustainability.
A two-hour sourdough-making workshop is fully booked, but there is also a horticultural planting and yoga workshop available. The workshop explores the therapeutic benefits of gardening combined with yoga, with seeds, soil and a potting container included.
Harrison Communities in Bloom (CiB) is hosting their plant sale at the event for the community’s green thumbs to get a start on their seasonal planting. The CiB can accept cash only.
Additionally, there will be food, coffee, live music and more.
There will be information on how to recycle household batteries; attendees are welcome to bring their used batteries to have them recycled. A discounted tree voucher is available to the first 25 people who register for a FireSmart home assessment.
