One of the country’s most powerful pension funds, Australian Retirement Trust, wants Treasurer Jim Chalmers to reheat the asset recycling scheme pioneered by his Coalition predecessor Joe Hockey to refresh the government balance sheet and fund nationally important projects in energy or housing.

ART, a superannuation behemoth managing just over $350 billion in retirement savings, is the second-largest pension fund in Australia and is chaired by former Queensland Labor treasurer Andrew Fraser.
