BC Ferries is warning travellers that elevator service is down on one of its vessels that travels between Vancouver and Nanaimo on Wednesday.
The ferry operator says elevators are unavailable on the following four sailings between Tsawwassen and Duke Point on April 29:
7:45 a.m. departing Duke Point
10:15 a.m. departing Tsawwassen
12:45 p.m. departing Duke Point
3:15 p.m. departing Tsawwassen
Passengers who want to access the lower vehicle deck and passenger decks during these sailings must use the stairs.
Passengers who require elevator access will be given the option to travel on a different sailing, according to BC Ferries.
“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result. Our team is working to fix the elevator(s) and will provide updates as soon as they become available,” said BC Ferries in a notice shortly after 7 a.m.
The latest updates on elevator service can be found on the BC Ferries website.
The issue is affecting the 50-year-old Queen of Alberni vessel.
The ferry has two elevators on board, and can carry a maximum of 1,200 passengers and crew, and 280 vehicles.
