Local golfer Russell Aide punched his ticket to an appearance in the 2026 U.S. Adaptive Open.
Aide finished at 3-over 75, finishing atop the leaderboard at last Wednesday’s qualifier at Haworth Country Club.
He made par on all but three holes and made birdie on the par-4 fifth hole to advance to the U.S. Adaptive Open for the fourth time.
“I knew it was going to be a little harder weather today, so I was just making sure to stay consistent,” Aide told the Metropolitan Golf Association in a release.
“Usually I come down from Canada where it’s colder…my dad brought down my winter coat. I was wearing it in between shots.”
The 18-year-old is a freshman at the University of Arizona and is a member of their Adaptive Golf Team.
Aide will head to the Woodmont Country Club from July 6-8 for a chance at a U.S. Adaptive Open title.
