Two Toronto men face multiple charges after a traffic stop near Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga on Monday led police to the discovery of a loaded gun and drugs.
Peel Regional Police said officers pulled over a vehicle shortly before 4 p.m. on Ambler Drive, in the Dixie Road/Highway 401 area of the city.
Subsequent investigation at the scene led officers to the discovery of a loaded illegal handgun along with quantities of suspected cannabis and cocaine, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Two men were arrested a short time later.
Tayshawn Cabell and Abdul Issah, both 19 and of Toronto, each face firearm/weapon and drug charges.
Police said Cabell was on release at the time of his arrest for prior firearms-related offences and he had been prohibited from possessing weapons. He’s facing additional charges of possession of a firearm contrary to order and fail to comply with release order (two counts).
The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
