Re: Senate’s fatal flaw: It isn’t democratic, editorial, April 25

In regard to the editorial headline above, truer works were never spoken. The Senate, formerly called the Chamber of Sober Second Thought, has become the Chamber of Liberal Thought with its Liberal majority. Justin Trudeau loaded up the Senate with Liberal supporters, then called them “independents”, and in so doing he has basically destroyed the original purpose of the institution.
Autocrat Mark Carney now controls the Senate, the federal courts, which Trudeau also loaded up with Liberal supporters, much of the MSM that he funds, and the RCMP, and will likely soon have control of all parliamentary committees, too, thereby silencing opposition parties.
Democracy no longer exists in Canada. Power-hungry Carney even manufactured a majority!

‘CULTURE OF DEATH’
Re: Colby Cosh: Canada’s horrifying example causes U.K. to think twice about euthanasia, online, Jan. 31
Canada has failed at many things in the last decade or so, but the one thing we have really excelled at is the promotion and perfection of the “culture of death”.
By mid-2026, a projected 100,000 people will have been killed by euthanasia (MAID) since it was legalized in 2016.

What kind of country have we become? Life is always a “gift”. Canada has forgotten that. We have abandoned our convictions, principles and quieted our conscience.
The rest of the world looks at us and questions our sanity.
Countries like the U.K. are learning from our mistakes and refusing (so far) to go down that path. They realize that, once it’s started, the ball rolls faster and faster downhill, and there is no stopping it. We were assured that wouldn’t happen in Canada. Sadly, common sense dictates that we should have known better.

NOT CURING WHAT AILS US
A year has now elapsed since the Liberals used scare tactics and the fraudulent “Elbows Up” movement, resulting in the same bunch of incompetents keeping their seats in Parliament when accountability, affordability and just plain common sense were the alternatives.
Apart from several MOUs and a sketchy deal with China, our judge me at the grocery store Euro PM has been asleep at the wheel with the Canadian economy in the ditch.
All talk. Just like a travelling snake oil salesman in the Old West.
