Young Star Wars lovers, classic music fans and tech buffs are invited to meet and mingle at events in Brampton for youth week.

National Youth Week starts on Friday, and the Brampton Library is holding free workshops and meet-ups to celebrate young people and their place in the Brampton community.

Events include a Star Wars-themed meet up on May 4 (also known as Star Wars Day), and a “Life After High School” panel discussion.

Here’s a look at all the free National Youth Week events coming to Brampton Library Branches.

Painted Records Clocks

This workshop will see youth turn old vinyl records into retro-inspired wall art by turning it into a functional clock. All materials provided, and there will be multiple sessions running at different Brampton Library branches.

May the Fourth be with You teen meet-up

Celebrate Star Wars Day at the Library with games and activities themed in a galaxy far, far away. ”

“Whether you’re a Jedi knight or a padawan, all are welcome to join in and fight the dark side,” the Brampton Library says.

The event runs on May 4 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Claireville library branch.

Life After High School

This panel discussion will tackle what life looks like after graduation for Brampton students. Guests will hear from post-secondary students to learn about their successes and personal challenges This program is for teens who are 15 to 19 years old, and aimed at students in Grades 11 and 12.

The event runs on May 7 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Village library branch.

Brampton Tech Talks – Future-Proof Your Career: AI and Cybersecurity

This panel discussion will explore career pathways in AI and cybersecurity, with guests hearing directly from industry professionals and experts from Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Sheridan College, and Upskailed: AI Upskilling. The panel will be moderated by Manav Sidhu, Programmer, Education Programs (Innovation & Technology) in the City of Brampton Economic Development Office.

The panel discussion will be held on May 7 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Springdale library branch.
