As soft pink and white petals appear on cherry trees across Ontario, Brampton don’t have to travel far to enjoy the sight.

There are several locations in the city where the trees are on full display.

Blooms can be found at Joyce Archdekin Park, along Main Street South and at the entrance to Gage Park.

The city maintains approximately 70 cherry blossom trees, which were gifted as part of the Sakura Project.

The Sakura Project granted trees to a number of public locations in Ontario as a symbol of goodwill and friendship between Japan and Ontario.

The City’s Parks and Forestry department planted the community’s trees in 2002 and 2003.

Visitors are asked not to pick the blossoms, pull on the branches or climb on the trees, as damage can prevent the blossoms in the future.
