Four of the six suspects who allegedly broke into a private event at Toronto Metropolitan University late last year are facing additional charges, police announced Friday.
In a news release, investigators said each suspect is now charged with taking part in a riot while masked and two are additionally charged with public incitement of hatred in connection with the Nov. 5 incident.
Officers were called to the scene near Bay and Elm streets that afternoon for a disturbance. It’s alleged that the suspects shattered a glass door to enter the event, hosted by Students Supporting Israel, which featured appearances by Israeli soldiers.

The group previously said that the event was peaceful, but alleged that the suspects “violently stormed” the premises. Meanwhile, another group at the school, Students for Justice in Palestine, said its members were assaulted by one of the Israeli soldiers in attendance.

TMU condemned the incident in a statement released at the time.
Police previously said at least one person was injured from broken glass during the forced entry. When police arrived at the scene, one of the accused allegedly assaulted an officer who was making an arrest.
Qabil Ibrahim, 26, Fatimah Mugni, 23, Kiana Alexis, 22, all of Toronto, and Nicole Baiton, 25, of Oakville, are all facing additional charges. Mugni and Baiton were each charged with one count of public incitement of hared.
