PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Fire announced their first roster cut Friday as the team works toward the required roster limit. Portland waived forward Peyton Williams after initially signing her April 15 following the WNBA Draft.

Williams most recently played overseas for Wuhan Shengfan in China, where she averaged 12.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 57.2% from the field. She graduated from Kansas State in 2020 and earned All-Big 12 first-team honors as a senior.
The Fire will play a preseason game at home Sunday, May 3, against the Los Angeles Sparks. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Portland opens the regular season at home against the Chicago Sky on Saturday, May 9, at 6 p.m.
