A pedestrian was seriously injured Friday afternoon when they were hit by a vehicle that then crashed into a downtown Ottawa building, paramedics say.
The vehicle, a grey Honda Pilot, left the road and drove onto the sidewalk near the intersection of Laurier Avenue W. and O’Connor Street, said Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Tyler Leslie.
The SUV then struck the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, before colliding with the building at 234 Laurier Ave. W., Leslie said.
The pedestrian was transported to The Ottawa Hospital’s trauma centre in serious condition after suffering “multi-system trauma,” Leslie said.
Paramedics got the call around 4:20 p.m., he added.
