A Winnipeg hospital’s phone service has been restored after a days-long outage.
Bell MTS said Saturday landline service has been restored for Grace Hospital and other Manitoba customers following a disruption that began early Tuesday morning.
A notice posted earlier this week on Grace Hospital’s website advised Winnipeggers the facility was experiencing intermittent issues and that it couldn’t take some inbound calls, adding that Bell MTS was working to fix the problem.
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority said in an email Saturday afternoon phone and fax service were back online, adding the outage was caused by a Bell MTS network issue.
Company spokesperson David Marcille said Saturday all affected customers were back online.
The spokesperson said the outage was due to a commercial power outage at a central network facility early Tuesday morning. Marcille said customers who may still be having issues should contact the company’s support team.
Bell MTS did not provide any estimates as to how many customers were impacted by the outage.
The health authority said contingency plans were put in place while the service was down to protect patients and mitigate workflow disruptions.
