Two police cruisers collided while responding to reports that a man was chasing people with a knife at a Mississauga recreation centre on Saturday afternoon.

Peel Regional Police told INsauga.com the cruisers crashed into one another while en route to “an in-progress weapons call of a man chasing people with a knife” at around 3:30 p.m. at Huron Park Recreation Centre, just south of Dundas Street West and Mavis Road.

After the initial crash, one of the police cruisers then collided with a “civilian vehicle,” making “minor contact,” police said, adding no injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, the armed man at the recreation centre was apprehended by officers and is now in custody, according to police.

There were no injuries reported in that incident either.
