A police investigation is underway in Quebec City after an incident involving two vehicles that sent two young pedestrians to hospital.
Police were not able to confirm the pedestrians’ ages, but said both are minors.
Emergency crews were called around 3:45 p.m. on Monday to the intersection of Francheville Street and des Chutes Boulevard, in the city borough of Beauport.
When they arrived at the scene, one of the pedestrians was unconscious. Both minors were quickly transported to hospital, according to police.
Investigators are trying to determine what led to the incident.
According to Denis Voyer, who lives in the neighbourhood, the intersection is problematic, especially when school lets out.
“People drive like crazy here,” he said. “There is a pedestrian crossing and people don’t let pedestrians through. I’m often on my porch. Honestly! I shout at cars.”
Claudia Leclerc heard the impact of the collision.
“I went outside. I saw there were a lot of people and there was a child on the ground,” she said.
She is a mother of two and worries about reckless, fast drivers in the area, she added.
Traffic in the area has been affected as the investigation continues.
