A Winnipeg man who served as a pastor and youth camp director is facing multiple charges after an investigation into the alleged sexual assault and exploitation of a teenager.
In a news release, the Winnipeg Police Service says its Sex Crimes Unit began investigating in March 2026 after receiving information about an alleged sexual assault involving a youth camp counsellor who was a teenager at the time.
Police allege that between August 2025 and March 2026, the accused developed a sexual relationship with the teen by grooming and gaining their trust.
Investigators say the survivor met with the accused on several occasions in private and received sexually explicit material.
On April 30, 2026, 23-year-old Carson Alexander Parago was charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunication, and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 18.
He has since been released on conditions authorized by the Crown. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
