“Hubble captured some cosmic ‘lightsabers‘ far, far away. These are actually young stellar jets, colliding at fast speeds with nearby gas and dust.”

Joining in the geeky fun, NASA Ames posted: “The Hubble Space Telescope once captured a photo of a newborn star shooting out two bright jets into space. Much more energetic than a sci-fi lightsaber, these narrow beams are blasting across space at over 100,000 miles per hour.

“This celestial lightsaber does not lie in a galaxy far, far away but rather inside our own Milky Way.”
