The execution of search warrants in Mississauga, Brampton and Toronto last week led to three arrests and the recovery of suspected cocaine and more than $10,000 in Canadian cash, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police said the search warrants were carried out by officers simultaneously on May 1 at the three locations.
In addition to the arrests, police said officers seized more than $35,000 in illegal drugs believed to be cocaine, the cash and $4,000 worth of “offence-related property” that includes cellphones, scales, a vacuum sealer, bags and a money counter.
The trio charged face a total of eight charges, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Police said the arrests stem from a drug trafficking investigation that was launched in March in Wellington County, northwest of Mississauga and Brampton.
Officers working out of various OPP squads combined forces to execute the search warrants last week, police said.
Shanunque Rowe, 28, of Toronto, Trevon Simpson, 31, of Mississauga, and Jevon Taylor, 28, of Brampton, are each charged with possession of a substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Taylor faces two counts of each charge.
All three accused have been released from custody and have court appearances scheduled for July 24 in Guelph, police said.
The investigation continues.
