The Montreal Alouettes released defensive lineman Byron Vaughns and defensive back Brandin Dandridge on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Byron Vaughns is six foot four and weighs 238 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on May 1, 2025. In 2025, he made four tackles and one sack in two preseason games, making the practice squad. In the regular season, Vaughns made eight tackles and one tackle on special teams in seven games.
The Dallas Cowboys signed Vaughns as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Cowboys released him on August 7, 2024. The Houston Roughnecks signed Vaughns on March 14, 2025. In 2025, he made six tackles (3 solos, 3 assists) in four games. The Roughnecks released him on April 28, 2025.
Collegiately, Vaughns played two seasons at Texas (2019-20) making 14 tackles (10 solos, 4 assists), one forced fumble, and one punt return for -6 yards in 12 games for the Longhorns. Next, he transferred to Utah State (2021-22) making 99 tackles (43 solos, 56 assists), 19 tackles for loss, six sacks, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 25 games for the Aggies. He was named Mountain West Championship Game Defensive MVP in 2021.
Then, he transferred to Baylor in 2023 making 32 tackles (21 solos, 11 assists), eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown in 11 games for the Bears.
Brandin Dandridge is five foot eleven and weighs 183 pounds. The 28-year-old from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on August 5, 2025. He spent a week on the practice squad.
The Ottawa Redblacks signed Dandridge as a free agent on August 20, 2019. The Redblacks released him on February 7, 2022, and he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on the same day. In 2022, he made one pass breakup in two preseason games. The Chiefs released him on August 22, 2022.
The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed Dandridge on September 6, 2022. In 2022, Dandridge made 14 tackles and two forced fumbles in six games. In 2023, he made 24 tackles, five interceptions, two touchdowns, one forced fumble, 15 kick returns for 328 yards, 44 punt returns for 539 yards, and one touchdown in 13 games.
In 2024, Dandridge made 28 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, five kick returns for 92 yards, and seven punt returns for 52 yards in nine games. The Redblacks released him on January 29, 2025.
In five seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks, Dandridge made 89 tackles, one tackle on special teams, 11 interceptions, two touchdowns, four forced fumbles, 20 kick returns for 420 yards, 51 punt returns for 591 yards, and one touchdown in 38 games.
Collegiately, Dandridge played five seasons at Missouri Western State (2014-18) making 131 tackles (90 solos, 41 assists), half a tackle for loss, 12 interceptions 77 yards, 50 pass breakups, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, one blocked punt, two kick returns for 43 yards, 27 punt returns for 361 yards, and one touchdown in 46 games for the Griffins. He was named Second Team All-MIAA (Defensive Back) and First Team All-MIAA (Returner) in 2018.
