With rookie camp getting underway on Wednesday in the Canadian Football League, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed a veteran with local connections.
The green and white agreed to a deal with linebacker Ryder Varga. Last week, the Regina native was released by the Toronto Argonauts.

Drafted by the BC Lions in the 3rd round (29th overall) of the 2022 CFL Draft, Varga spent two seasons with the Lions. In his second campaign in BC, Varga registered 73 defensive tackles.
Prior to entering the professional ranks, the linebacker spent five seasons with the University of Regina Rams. He was named First Team All-Canadian and Canada West’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player as a senior in 2022 and was a two time as Canada West All-Star (2021-22).
