A body was removed from a home on Langside Street Thursday morning, where city crews battled a blaze that affected multiple homes on the West End street.
Shortly before 10 a.m., first responders unloaded the body from the back of an ambulance parked in the alleyway behind the home at 584 Langside St.
The body, covered with a white bag, was moved into a black van belonging to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The cause of the blaze and time of the call were not immediately clear, but police cordoned off a section of the street while firefighters worked to contain it.
Investigators from the Winnipeg Police Service’s forensic unit were on scene.
Additional paramedics and fire investigators continued to arrive as the morning wore on.

The home at 584 Langside suffered the most damage, but two nearby homes appear to have been affected.
WPS spokesperson Const. Claude Chancy said it was too early to provide details about the incident while firefighting efforts were still underway.
