Get ready to cheer on the green and gold! The University of Alberta is officially gearing up for the 2026 Edmonton Corporate Challenge (ECC), which kicks off May 13 and wraps June 7, 2026. This year marks the U of A’s return to the ECC, which since 1992 has been the city’s premier team-building extravaganza.
We’re stepping into a division of heavy hitters and some spirited energy as we face off against Grant MacEwan University, NAIT, the City of Edmonton, PCL Construction, Edmonton Public Schools and Servus Credit Union, among others. It’s a chance to show our neighbours that the Green and Gold spirit is unmatched in the capital region.
The U of A is competing in a variety of sports and recreation events from a 5K run, volleyball and slopitch to team trivia, board games and Mario Kart. There’s even a talent show on June 7, where you’ll get to see your colleagues flex their special skills! With the exception of the kick-off pep rally, events are scheduled on weekday evenings and weekends.
Bookmark the Edmonton Corporate Challenge U of A Schedule for the full slate of events, which will be updated regularly as details are finalized.
Join the fun at the Kick-off Pep Rally
Don your green and gold gear for the Kick-off Pep Rally and Mascot Race, where you’ll see Guba and Patches race for the win! Join your colleagues on May 13 at 11:30 a.m. at RE/MAX Field.
Competition with a cause
Beyond the trophies, the challenge provides an opportunity to give back to our community through two vital initiatives.
The Blood Donor Challenge: As a Partner for Life with Canadian Blood Services, the U of A aims to donate 500 units of blood annually. Donations made before the end of May count toward our ECC team total! When you donate, use Partner ID UNIV010313.
CardiacCrash™: Fewer than 50% of Canadians receive bystander CPR during a cardiac arrest, contributing to a survival rate below 10%. Contact uabcc@ualberta.ca to join our CardiacCrash team – enhance your life-saving skills while raising funds for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. We also encourage you to visit CardiacCrash if you’d like to support the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Let’s show Edmonton what the University of Alberta is made of. See you at the starting line!
