Police have charged a Brampton man accused of manipulating and trafficking a female victim in the sex trade.
The investigation started in April when Peel Regional Police say officers were alerted about a female who was being trafficking in the sex work industry.
Investigators say the woman was manipulated into sex work by a male suspect, who “took control of aspects of the victim’s life,” located clients and made advertisements, and financially benefited from her exploitation.
Peel police say Kabir Jangra, 23, of Brampton, was arrested on April 24 and charged with multiple offences, including procuring, advertising sexual services, trafficking persons, receiving benefits resulting from trafficking in persons, and exercise control.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and made a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Investigators believe there may be other victims and say anyone with information should contact the Peel Regional Police Vice and Human Trafficking Unit by calling 905-453-2121 ext. 3555.
