The Burns family’s exploits on the ice won’t be ending anytime soon.

Jagger Burns, son of long-time NHL defenceman Brent Burns, was drafted to the WHL in the league’s 2026 prospects draft on Thursday.

Jagger was taken 172nd by the Prince George Cougars in the eighth round from Okanagan HA Colorado 14U AAA.

The younger Burns, a forward, logged 14 goals and 10 assists through 39 games at the 14U level this season.

As for his father, Brent has been with the Colorado Avalanche after signing a one-year deal last off-season. The 22-year vet played in all 82 games this season and posted 12 goals and 23 assists. He’s logged one assist through six playoff appearances for the Avs.
