The rise of tools like OpenClaw, Claude Code or OpenAI Codex that can turn personal notes into audio files have stretched the definition of what’s considered to be a podcast. That debate continues, but Spotify says the content is clearly audio — and that is the business it is in. The streamer is therefore now allowing users to save and play personal podcasts on its app.

Spotify sees AI-generated personal podcasts as having a place alongside music, audiobooks, and traditional podcasts, especially as more consumers are embracing the option. The company says people are already starting to use their agents to create personal audio that guides their day — from summaries of class notes before an exam to briefings of what’s on their calendar.

“They’re asking for a way to listen to it on Spotify, where they already listen to everything else,” it explains in the announcement. It positions the decision as part of a strategy where Spotify moves with a user throughout their day.

The new Save to Spotify beta tool will allow personal podcasts to be saved alongside other content in their library for both free and Premium subscribers. The episodes will remain private to the user. The content will be seamlessly integrated across all the devices they use.

“We’ll continue improving this experience as we learn,” Spotify says. “As we expand in this beta phase, some aspects may evolve, with usage limits in place while we test and learn.”

While precise usage figures remain difficult to quantify because most companies do not release detailed metrics, adoption of AI agents has accelerated rapidly. OpenAI said its Codex coding agent surpassed 3 million weekly active users in early April and climbed past 4 million users within weeks, making it one of the company’s fastest-growing products. Anthropic has not disclosed usage numbers for Claude Code, while OpenClaw also has not released public metrics. Still, the broader AI agent category is already estimated to be serving millions of active users as developers and consumers increasingly rely on the tools for coding, automation, summarization, and personalized content creation.
