The Toronto Blue Jays outfielder was scratched late from Sunday’s starting lineup due to right elbow soreness.
Toronto is looking for a sweep of the Los Angeles Angels, with live coverage on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ beginning at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
Barger returned to the lineup Saturday after missing one month with a left ankle sprain.
He was 0-for-3 at the plate with two walks and one run in a 14-1 win, but his game was highlighted by a rocket throw from right field to catch Jorge Soler attempting to tag from third base.
With Barger out, Myles Straw will draw in and take over in left field, while Jesus Sanchez slides over to right field.
Barger, who had been slated to bat lead-off, will be replaced atop the batting order by Ernie Clement.
On the mound, Spencer Miles will get the ball as an opener ahead of left-hander Eric Lauer. The Blue Jays’ bats will have to contend with Angels ace Jose Soriano, who holds a sparkling 1.75 ERA on the season.
